Nothing matters, we humans are nothing
Article date: 2026-04-18 Format: Rougher than his polished essays — dictated / stream-of-consciousness quality. Argumentative structure is there but unpolished; ends mid-thought with "my brain fuckng hurts." Closer to his acceptance-of-ambiguity mode than to his structured-essay mode. Raw: 2026-04-18-nothing-matters
Core move
Walks through three possibilities for why humans / life exist:
- We serve a purpose we can't perceive (simulation-style, nested reality)
- We're the accidental product of combinatorial chance with no greater purpose
- Religions are right
He declines to pick. Crucially, he refuses to default to religion just because he lacks an answer. That refusal is the piece's sharpest epistemic commitment.
Key extractions
Opening thesis:
Nothing matters, we humans are nothing. There is a good amount of probability that humans life is an accident. Life itself on earth could just be an accident.
Against the design argument (via statistical reasoning):
There would be billions and trillions of potential possibilities of combinations that have occurred in the universe. Atoms would be placed in different conditions and well one of those combinations led to life on earth... this might actually be the case for the existence of us humans but this is very miserable for most of us to believe.
And this is exactly why we love to live in delusion that there is a creator who is watching after us.
The creator-regress:
If humanity came from atoms then where did atoms come from. There must be a creator who created atoms. Fair, but then who created the creator? and if the creator always existed then why can't the atoms?
That's the paradox where most religious debates wobble around.
The sharp epistemic commitment:
Even I don't know the answer to that but I don't want to fallback to religious scriptures just because I don't have an answer and religions don't have the answer either.
Simulation theory via the WhatsApp message analogy:
Think a whatsapp message. A single message is request that flows from your device to receiver's device... A message request has no consciousness of anything other the message route it takes. It does not know that there is world outside the phone... Although it has no consciousness like humans but if it did it would consider the message sender as its god.
Quite similarly we humans could have a more conscious life compared to a message. We have lifespans too. We have gods too.
Accidental insignificance via the beehive analogy:
When the tree grew the wood of the tree, the sun rays and everything aligned in a way that there is a beehive created on one of the branches of the tree... The beehive serves no purpose and is just something that has grown by accident. The bees born inside the beehive? There whole life will just revolve around that insignificant beehive, trying to survive, reproduce and then eventually die. That beehive could be Earth in the universe.
The three possibilities (verbatim from the piece):
- we could serve a purpose that we are unware of
- we could be useless with no purpose at all
- religions
Closing:
my brain fuckng hurts
Relationship to the corpus
Extends purpose-is-constructed (from 2025-06-20-purpose-vs-absurdity) with (a) a stronger statistical argument against intelligent design and (b) an explicit refusal to default to religion. Introduces a new, distinct stance: cosmic-purpose-open.
Thematically, this is an acceptance-heavy piece (see agency-vs-acceptance) — unlike 2025-06-20-purpose-vs-absurdity which still lands on "building meaning one choice at a time," this one ends earlier, at "my brain fucking hurts." No practical response is offered — the piece sits with the undecidability.
Latent theme (not promoted)
The WhatsApp-message and beehive analogies point at a framing: we can't tell from inside. Nested systems with purposes (or accidents) invisible to their inhabitants. If future pieces develop this, it could mature into a standalone theme — candidate name themes/cosmic-scale or themes/nested-realities. For now, captured within meaning and this source summary.
