Zaid (okzaid)

Founder, Builder & Engineer

I'm Zaid. Online I go by okzaid. I'm a founder and engineer. I build AI products, and I write essays about the stuff I can't stop thinking about, mostly the self, meaning, and whether our reasoning is as solid as it feels.

I've been building since I was a kid. At 15 I was writing brute-force scripts to break into things, mostly to find out if I could. Around the same time I hit the global top 200 in Clash of Clans, out of a hundred million players. I get obsessive about whatever I'm into, and I usually push it further than is reasonable.

Now I build AI products. Most of them start from the same annoyance: some process that takes ten boring steps when it should take one real decision. So I cut the boring steps and keep the decision. A ticket becomes a pull request. A sentence becomes a plan. I've started companies, sold products, and taken a few things from zero to one. The work is on the projects page.

I write too. It usually starts with something personal, then I dig until I find what's actually going on underneath, often the neuroscience, and I try to land on the honest answer instead of the comfortable one. All of it lives in an LLM-maintained wiki of my own head, which is the brain on this site. The longer pieces are on the blog. If you actually want to know how I think, the brain is the most honest version of it.
